A reflection
You Are Not the Source
Apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5
There is a kind of exhaustion that has nothing to do with how much you have done. It comes from trying to be the origin of something you were only ever meant to receive.
We do this without realizing it. We manage, strive, and take on more than is ours to do — out of a deep and often unexamined belief that if we don't make things happen, they won't happen. That somehow Life itself depends upon our effort.
But Jesus does not say: try harder and you will bear fruit. He says: remain in me. The branch is not separate from the vine; it lives from the Life already flowing within it. Its part is to remain — open, present, and receiving the Life it cannot originate on its own.
This is the central movement of Receive Your Life: recognizing that we are not the origin of Life, nor are we separate from it. Life comes from Source. Our part is to receive and respond.
Is there an area of your life where you are trying to make something happen that is not yours to do?
